Engineers Day
Engineers Day, celebrated September 15th, serves to appreciate engineers and their contributions to society. Engineers are professionals who invent, design, and build complex systems.
Each class were set a challenge to research, design, create and build a product.
- Year 1 trains
- Year 2 bridges
- Year 3 rockets
- Year 4 hurricane proof towers
- Year 5 floating devices
- Year 6 bridges
Snowdrop Class
We had a super day discussing the engineer George Stephenson and making our own locomotives.
Here are a few pictures from the day.
Buttercup Class
We researched Isambard Kingdom Brunel and then designed and built our own bridges from Lego.
It was hard and sometimes our bridges didn't work but we kept at it and we were all successful.
Bluebell Class
We are all super proud of our rocket engineering skills!
Poppy Class
Poppy Class enjoyed spending World Engineering Day learning all about Gustave Eiffel and tower construction as well as how to build towers which can withstand hurricanes.
In the afternoon the children created some wonderful towers and tested their hurricane preparedness!
Forget-me-not Class
We had a go at making the strongest bridge out of only masking tape and newspaper.
We definitely have some future engineers in the making!
